George Phydias Mitchell Born
George Phydias Mitchell is born in Galveston, Texas to Greek immigrant parents, Katina Elefteriou and Savaas Kristos Pareskevopoulous, as the third of four children. (George's father's name was changed to Mike Mitchell after arriving in the U.S. in 1901.) Though growing up poor, George lives in a modest home over the cleaning business where his parents always welcomed any immigrant from Greece looking to gain a foothold in America.

Cynthia Loretta Woods is born in New York City to Loretta Lunneen Woods and Clinton Everard Woods. She is born with an identical twin, Pamela. Cynthia and Pamela move to Carrollton, Illinois as children, and are raised during the Great Depression by their single mother with the help of extended family.
